Palms and tropical grounds at White Sands Cove

Lines out

Reef, deep-sea and flats fishing

Ambergris Caye fishes well year-round. Inside the reef you are after snapper, grouper and barracuda; out on the flats behind the island it is bonefish, permit and tarpon — the grand slam that brings fly fishermen to Belize in the first place.

All fishing here is by private charter, so the boat and the day are yours. Bring your catch back and La Cala will cook it for you.

Tours we book

Prices change with the season and the operator, so we quote them at the time of booking. Ask the concierge for current rates and availability.

Cook your catch

Whatever comes back can go to the La Cala kitchen or into your own suite's kitchen — every condo at White Sands Cove has a full one.

Licences and conservation

Belize requires a sport fishing licence, which the charter operators arrange. Bonefish, permit and tarpon are catch-and-release by law throughout the country.

Good to know

Can we keep what we catch?
Reef and deep-sea species, yes, within season and size rules. Bonefish, permit and tarpon are strictly catch-and-release in Belize.
Do you provide equipment?
Rods, tackle and bait come with the charter. Fly fishermen usually bring their own rods, though guides can supply gear on request.
